Heel Better!
Question:
I am in love with how platform pumps look but I am horrible when it comes to heels. I am so envious when I see girls strutting around in those pumps and they look so comfortable! Are there any tips on how to make them more comfortable?

Answer:
Radhika, when it comes to platform pumps (and heels in general), I don't recommend taking a "just go for it" approach! Most likely, those strutting girls only appear comfortable because they are accustomed to their heels; not because the heels are comfy. So rather than attempting to endure an entire evening in pumps and in pain, try spending a little time in the shoes before you actually wear them out and about. Start with something easy, like an hour, and gradually increase the time you spend 'practicing.' By the time your plans come around, you'll be primed and ready to do a little strutting yourself.

Here's a hint about us girls who "strut around in those platform pumps" -- the bigger the platform in the front, the higher heel you can stand! Just because I have a 4 or 5 inch heel, doesn't mean it's killing my feet. The platforms give me the extra "help" to be able to wear those killer heels! And Jaime is totally correct -- practice, practice, practice! Once you get used to it, it's a BREEZE :) MJ in Sunny FloridaAnn Marie Pershin commented almost 2 years ago.
Yes! I agree with Mary's comment. I wear no less than 4" heels, and I can easily handle a 4" rise due to practice, and my feet actally being numb in areas (was a ballet dancer). However, when you go up to a 4.5" heel or higher to a 6"or even 7" (have 4 pair of 7" heels), the platform is usually 1" to 2.5" and that keeps the rise of your foot at a much lower angle! Even 4" shoes have a platform anymore, from 1/4" to approx 1", and it does help with comfort level! Good luck with your SKY High heels, enjoy and remember to Strut your stuff; people always will notice confidence and a compliment usualy follows! (It never fails me; I get compliments on my shoes everyday, no matter if I am at the grocery store or the club; and wearing 6" heels, towering over most other ladies, you always catch someone's eye...) -anniedanielle goodhart commented almost 2 years ago.
i totally agree PRACTICE! but if you cant walk in them then dont try to push it and where really high pumps. it will look better to wear lower heels and walk perfect then to wear really high ones and not walk correctly.Ryan O'Leary commented almost 2 years ago.
I'm having this same problem. I love the look of heels, but nothing is more unattractive than a girl who looks like she's in pain as she tries to walk in them. It's very easy to tell what girls are comfortable in heels, and the girls who aren't. Maybe I'll start doing my house hold chores in heels and work my way up from there. Nothing makes me more cranky then when my feet are uncomfortableESSENCE CRAIG commented almost 2 years ago.
try wearing the heels around the house with sweat socks that will stretch them outNatasha McCain commented almost 2 years ago.
I've been walking in hels for years and it's all due to something my mother told me thathas worked for me and that's to go a half size larger when wearing higher heels and to break them in by walking in them a few time before your event ot outing. I never have that hurt look on my face and always walk comfortably the next morning after a night out with the girls. No swelling!commented almost 2 years ago.
I actually take a pair of comfy shoes along with me in a larger purse (usually flats) and switch it up if the heels become unbearable...as long as the flats match the outfit of course.
